birthday week.

Monday: school screening and Molly's surgery. She is a little stronger now. She's been in ICU all week with fluid on her lungs and on a ventilator receiving blood and constant love. It is malignant. Oncology wants to start treatment as soon as she is feeling a little better. The surgery was done here, so her family came and everything. A girl in my class set up a house for them to stay at and we are getting food and stuff together for them so they don't have to eat nasty cafeteria food all of the time. Anyway, after school Kaila and I dropped my car off at the body shop to GET FIXED FINALLY and braved Kroghetto to get groceries! AND I got a LOVELY package from Grandma full of lovely goodies! Caramel puffcorn... my FAV

Tuesday! BIRTHDAY! and PUPIL DILATION. boo. Kaila made me Cheesy Potatoes, grilled chicken breasts, and corn she had brought back from home-- yeah, freshly frozen, homegrown sweet corn! After supper we watched GLEE (which is getting really, really weird) and ate cupcakes from MUDDY'S. De.Lish. We had 6 flavors for 6 girls, so we cut them into bites so we could all try each one. Grasshopper. Prozac (aka death by chocolate). Mocha Chocolate. Choc w/ Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting. Chunky Monkey. Red velvet. AMAZING. My lovely roomies and Jenny got me a gift certificate to Nail Bar to get a mani/pedi sometime soon!

Wednesday. Ash Wednesday. Went to Mass which was really good and tried to study afterwards. nothing crazy eventful.

Thursday we had a meeting, a 2002 grad spoke with us about how she started her, now very successful, practice COLD. it's amazing. she was a 26 year old, fresh out of school and started it on her own- no help from her parents, no husband, just a 155k loan and a dream. scary. I don't think I have the guts.

Friday. It was gorgeous outside so after class Kaila and I went for a walk and then I was told I have to be ready to go at 5. My fab roommates and friends took me out for olive garden for my birthday. Grilled Shrimp Caprese, peach Sangria and plenty of bread and salad. After we ate, they all said goodbye. Little did I know, they were headed to Sieze the Clay for Wine and Cheese Night! SURPRISE! Lovely. I painted a mug and had a blast.

Yesterday and today was pretty uneventful. We have DFE (dilated fundus exam) checkouts these next 2 weeks and then Pre-Clinic checkouts the following 2 weeks, so Kaila and I have been stuck in the dark 6th floor labs practicing all afternoon. Kristen's parents came to town and her lovely mom made us all Lasagna and Cheesecake tonight.

Post-Birthday Week should be full of workouts to burn off the "fun" of birthday week.

love to you all!
