toms eyewear

a week or so ago, my dear friend Emily posted a link to a video announcing TOM's new project- what they are doing next to help the poor people of the world. I watched the video and about cried. For those of you who may not know what TOMS is, their first mission has been to give shoes to children in other countries. They do this by a ONE for ONE program- I buy a pair of shoes and a poor child gets a pair too.

since giving shoes, they've seen the need for giving SIGHT to these people. Cataracts are the leading cause of BLINDNESS that is not attributed to uncorrected refractive error world wide as surgery  to have them removed is too expensive. Technically uncorrected refractive error (which can be fixed with a pair of glasses) is number one. Thanks to TOMS, more and more will have access be able to receive sight- either glasses, medical exam, or cataract surgery.

essentially, you buy a pair of sunglasses and someone you will never know will be able to see. How sweet is that.
