Unwilling to go to Starbucks and tired of Panera, I sought out a independent coffee shop, similar to Coffee House, The Mill, Mo Java, etc in Lincoln, or even The Coffee Shoppe in Wayne! Last night before going to bed, I googled (for the billionth time) "Coffee Shops + Memphis, TN." Lo and behold, I found Bluff City Coffee.
The decor is wonderful. Exposed brick. B&W photos of Memphis. Orange. Sage green. Leather overstuffed chairs. And, it's in the South Main District, which I've recently gained a new appreciation for. Similar to the Haymarket, University Place, Old Market, etc, it is rich with arts and funky shops. A few blocks down is the local Farmers Market, where I'd really REALLY like to be, however, I'm afraid the food would spoil before I get a chance to eat it this week.
Finals.
How are you here already?!?
It seems like just yesterday, we were getting back from Guatemala. However, turns out, I completed a semester's worth of classes. I now (hypothetically) know how to 1) Fit Contact Lenses (soft- sphere, toric, multifocal; RGP- sphere, back toric, bitoric; Specialty- CRT, K-cone,Scleral). 2) Diagnose and treat the Glaucomas. 3) Perform a Low Vision Exam, and assess/dispense Low Vision Devices. 4) Be able to analyze and integrate everything I've learned thus far into clinic. 5) Understand the mechanism, be able to diagnose, and treat Strabismus and Amblyopia...
Good joke, right?
Study break is over. I started with Contact Lens this morning with my chicken biscuit and cafe americano from BCC. Highly recommend trying and americano-- it so bold, smooth, flavorful, and fresh. Moving now to Glaucoma.
i'm just trying to keep finding Jesus in the finals storm.
this time next week I'll be in the car with mom and kel, moving her back to k-town. can't wait.
