where to begin.
nebraska was great during our week off. highlights: family. baby. friends in kearney, york, omaha, lincoln, and wayne. painting the outside of the house. moving kel to college. bread&cup. ivanna cone. Shopko optical #172. cooler temperatures. neighbors- new and old. partaking in the "cold ones" that are consumed in the driveway. grandmas. food. garden.
first week of school was a blur.
- i made a poster/powerpoint presentation and gave it to the entire 1st and 2nd year classes about COVD. contrary to popular belief, i still am a shy person and HATE public speaking. my mom laughed at me and mentioned HS speech team and musicals, etc. i can "play the part" but i am not comfortable being myself. i know, it's strange.
- nursing home is as depressing as it was this summer.
- one of my patients that week was "cupped out" aka end stage glaucoma. bummer.
- kaila's family came!! baring CORN and tomatoes and salsa and pork and all things lovely homegrown.
- went out with Jess and some of her friends
- began organization in the "VT Storage room"... and ordered a label maker
second week was blurrier.
- student government meeting
- lions club meeting-- I am a Lion now... or will be once we have our formal induction ceremony
- invited to join BSK the honors fraternity!
- nursing home canceled because they went to the casinos.
- bought plane tickets to vegas and realized that tickets home for Brian's wedding were farrrrr to expensive and impractical (dang you Huskers for having a home game that weekend!)
- FCO meeting
- loooooong day in optical, and fell in love with one of D&G's Madonna sunglasses... (Retail > $200)
- 2 follow-ups in primary care
- fell in love with the label maker and labeled virtually everything
- bridgette's bachelorette party. awesome. made strawberries and champagne cupcakes w/ chocolate butter cream! delish
third week was just as busy but since it was last week, not so blurry
- first seminar with Dr. Ensor-- practical Medical model applications of optometry- perfect
- nursing home again. i will never adapt to those smells.
- OPP meeting- one of my professors threatened to beat me up??
- another loooooong day in optical- this time i won the sales contest-- $15 to BBQ Shop for me!!
- primary care--- just an odd oddd day.
- optifest. whoops. might have purchased a couple pairs of glasses i didn't really need. though, i found a look-a-like, for the Madonna D&G sunglasses for 1/2 the cost ("only" 65!) and a cute pair for Kel
- Fridayyyyyy. more organization in VT and ugh, killer headache. Lauren came over and we went out to dinner and drinks and then hung out with cosmoritas-- delish-- oh and i bought tahini paste to make hummus.
yesterday was bible study at mrs. newman's and the football game. i did some laundry and baking to help relieve some of the stress of the game... thankfully i have not developed the "upset stomach" like dad gets, but sheesh. give me a myocardial infarction! i was very thrilled to see the old school Husker football offense-- Full back busting free for a 36 (or whatever) yard gain! Sexy Rexy rumblin and rolling. But the defense... the "sky isn't falling" as Bo would say, but it looked pretty gray.
but i baked some kick-butt (and butt enlarging) pumpkin pie tarts.
today. lazy sunday. trying to do homework. having kaila stare at me because she's bored and doesn't want to do anything. and i made a homemade pumpkin spice latte featuring real pumpkin, no artificial garbage!!
ok. back to work. :)
